I would classify a cheap inflatable kayak as one that can be purchased for under $500. Sometimes we don’t want to spend a lot of money on a boat if we are not going to become avid kayakers.
If you are looking for an inflatable kayak to pull out a few times a year for some paddling fun or perhaps to bring along with you on camping trips with the family you may not want to invest a lot of money.
There are some really excellent choices for inflatable kayaks that cost less than $500 that will last a fairly long time.
Just because you are not spending a $1000 or more does not mean that you will be getting a glorified pool toy.
Inflatable kayaks have come a long way as far as quality and performance are concerned and there are some really good name brand cheap inflatable kayaks.
BEST INFLATABLE KAYAKS FOR UNDER $500
Sea Eagle Sport Kayaks
There are two different sport kayaks to choose from… the Sea Eagle 330 and the Sea Eagle 370. They are the same kayak except for size and weight. These inflatable kayaks are great for beginners.
They are tough, solid and stable and come with a great 3 year warranty. They are light enough to travel with easily and can provide a lot of fun on the water. I would not recommend them for experienced kayakers.

Advanced Elements Advanced Frame
This is one of the nicest looking inflatable kayaks for its price range. It will not be the fastest kayak on the water but it will offer a very pleasant paddling experience.
Advanced Elements are known for making good quality affordable inflatable kayaks. This particular model happens to be extremely popular.

Advanced Elements Lagoon 1
The Lagoon 1 costs less than $500, is super light weight and is ideal for solo kayakers looking for an easy way to get out on the water.
It is best suited only for flat water paddling and is really ideal for new kayakers and those who love to travel.

Advanced Elements Lagoon 2
This is a great choice if you are looking for a tandem inflatable kayak for a good price. It is still quite light even for a tandem so can be easily traveled with and is convenient and fun.
It does not have all of the options of the Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Convertible but does get too people out on the water for a great price.

Sevylor inflatable kayaks
There are a few Sevylor inflatable kayaks that can be purchased for under $500.
The quality of these boats may not match that of those listed above but they still tend to be extremely popular for some recreational paddling fun. Read our reviews on Sevylor inflatable kayaks.
You do not have to spend a fortune if you want to get out on the water with your family and friends.
Of course the quality and performance of these cheap inflatable kayaks will not compare to those in a little higher price range. However sometimes that is okay and they will serve their purpose very well.
With a little extra care these inflatable kayaks are capable of lasting a very long time and providing many hours of wonderful paddling experiences.
Amazon.com is hands down the best place to find discounted inflatable kayaks at an affordable price. Search Amazon for cheap inflatable kayaks.
Thank you, Allison, for this wonderful website. Have you tried the Innova Twist tandem as a solo model? Several members of our Cornish NH Ladies Canoe and kayak club are now thinking more seriously about inflatable kayaks —stable, safe, lightweight and lower cost. I vote for the Airis Sport, but most of our members want to start with something a bit cheaper.
Connie
Hi Connie, The Innova Twist tandem can definitely be paddled solo. The only thing is you would need to add some weight to the front seat section to balance it out. With no weight up front it won’t track or glide as well. A dog up front is perfect of just a dry bag with some added weight to it, it doesn’t have to be a lot. I love the Airis Sport as well but no doubt the Innova Twist is a good price plus it is still good quality and they use more eco-friendly materials, which is kind of nice.
Hi,
Great articles! I’m a newbie to kayaking and am searching for an inflatable for my wife and I to use( mostly on the Willamette River, occasional lake). I’m thinking of buying a Sea Eagle 370, and if after using it for a bit find that it doesn’t meet expectations then we could return it ( within the 180 days ), and get one of the Explorer models. I liked the video you made taking the 330 into the ocean, it seemed to do reasonably well, which gives me confidence in making the purchase. How supportive are the seats in the 330? I was going to get the pro version which includes upgraded seats. Thanks again, and your site is simply great.
Hi Karl, I am glad you are finding the site helpful!! The 370 is a good kayak for the price and ideal for river and lake paddling. I would definitely recommend the upgraded seats, I find they have far more back support and allow you to paddle longer and still be comfortable. Good luck and happy paddling!
Cheers, Allison
